"is there any way to turn the wasp into a bee?"

Great question Eric, but from my observations, unfortunately not. Here's why.

The thing about these people is that they deeply believe that the church exists to serve them, and to minister to them. These are the people who bring the consumeristic ideas and viewpoints into the church and complain about the song selection or the volume level, or what people wear or any other thing that seems trivial and unimportant to us when compared to reaching lost people for Jesus. And many of these people are so entrenched, so wildly committed to the idea that the church should serve them (usually in remunerating for tithing) that they feel a sense of entitlement as an extension of this consumeristic church culture.

Wow Mike, you really took that to another level! I like it.

Is there any way to turn the Wasp into a Bee? I think that's what we do a lot of times... try to convert it. While I know it's genetically impossible, all things are possible with God.

While I tend to lean toward an attitude of conversion (work with what God's given you), I do understand that there are times when you need to say, "this probably isn't the Church for you". Funny... it tends to happen more with the "mature Christian" than it does with new believers.

Perry Noble said it best "you all are life sucking leaches, do us a favor and just leave, we need the room" Now that's direct if I have ever heard it. The second you see someone "drop anchor" you try to pull them back up so not to drag the whole ship to a stop, when they don't want to stop dragging it is time to get out the blow torch and cut them loose, the only problem here is they hang around like barnacles to the side of the ship and cause problems then you have to become a scuba diver to scrap them off the bottom of the boat only to have them go and leach onto another boat (church) and start all over again there.

Good read Jeremy
